Zee Avi from Malaysia

I want to introduce the very talented Zee Avi to all of you readers! I’ve been listening to her stuff lately, and I’m really digging her sound. I randomly stumbled upon her videos back when she started posting covers on YouTube and I’ve been a big fan ever since. I listen to a lot of music from the 60’s and 70’s and her voice reminded me of some of the old time singers. I feel like the soul of some of the singers from back then live in her

She’s currently signed to Jack Johnson’s label, Brushfire Records and is about to go on tour with Pete Yorn.

Here’s her latest music video “Bitter Heart” which I found myself singing every day this past week haha! Check it out!

She was also recently on “Last Call on the Carson Daly Show” and killed her performance! It makes me happy to see truly talented people like Zee Avi succeed in this tough business. Good luck to her and I hope she will only move up the charts!

Ahh, i didn't know that you blogged about her! That's great that you like her music. I feel so proud that she's from Malaysia(because I am) and is now taking her big step in music industry. She's one of my favorite Malaysian female singers. You might wanna try listening to Yunalis @ http://www.myspace.com/yunaroomrecords. She doesn't do YT videos but she's pretty awesome. Done gigs in London and Singapore. :]

Her 1:30 mins song is titled "Kantoi", which means "Getting Caught" in Malay. That was the cutest rendition song I've ever heard. Thank David!!
